This weekend the dead will rise again to give back to the living! To raise money to fund research and services for those affected by autism, Spartan Spectrum is hosting a Zombie Walk on Michigan State University’s campus this Sunday, November 3, 2013.
Spartan Spectrum is a new student organization partnered with the MSU Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities (RCPD) and Autism Alliance of Michigan, whose mission is to ‘Amplify Autism Awareness’. The students of Spartan Spectrum are bringing attention to autism in a positive light and calling upon MSU and East Lansing communities to show their support for all people affected by autism by walking for the cause.
The Zombie Walk will take place at 11:00 am with registration opening at 10:30 am. Walk fee is $15 and will begin at “the Rock”, traveling to the famous Spartan Statue and finishing back up at “the Rock”. Former MSU BIG10 Championship basketball player and MSU Alumni Anthony Ianni will be making an appearance as guest speaker at the beginning of the walk. Spartan Spectrum will be providing snacks and also awarding a special prize to the scariest zombie!
About Zombie Walks
For those who have never experienced a Zombie Walk, participants are asked to dress up in their best zombie attire—fake blood, ripped clothing, dark colored eyes and all—and make their way around campus with the purpose to do so in support of the designated cause. All participants are encouraged to take on the character in full force including grunting, groaning and dragging their feet in a zombie-like manner. The main mission of this event is to promote autism awareness using zombies as an unexpected attention grabber!
