We are pleased to announce a special public information seminar focusing on Macular Degeneration, Retinitis Pigmentosa and other causes of vision loss. The April 13 seminar will feature a variety of well-known and respected authorities on thriving despite vision loss. Speakers include: William J. Hooker, O.D. (greater Lansing area low-vision specialist), Nikolai Stevenson (President Association for Macular Diseases), Roberta McCall-Gaither (Rehabilitation Teacher/Independent Living Specialist), Maggie Bacon (Library of Michigan Services for the Blind), Gary Gaynor (Visually Impaired Information Center), Darrin Fowler (MSU graduate and attorney with the Michigan Department of Attorney General).
This outstanding series of presenters is certain to educate, motivate and empower those who are facing vision loss in their own live or those who want to help a friend or family member who is dealing with vision loss. In addition to the panel of speakers, two technology companies will display a sample of technology solutions for low-vision and blindness. The seminar is presented as a collaborative effort of MSU's OPHS/DRC Students, MSU's Program Preparing Teachers of the Visually Impaired and Deaf-Blind, MSU's Rehabilitation Counseling program, the Michigan Commission for the Blind, and Telesensory Corporation. The seminar will be held in the MSU Union Ballroom beginning at 9 AM with refreshments and registration, followed by the seminar from 9:30 AM to approximately 1 PM.
