Deadlines are fast approaching for several scholarships and internship opportunities.
Last month we told you about the Friendship Memorial Scholarship, established in memory of Ford executives Benjamin Muns, Richard Bentley and Robert L. Decker, who died in a plane crash. The Coca-Cola Global Fellows Program offers grants of up to $5000 for study in one of 20 MSU study abroad programs in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. This program is open to both undergraduate and graduate students and does require some proficiency in foreign language. Contact Val Nilson at OPHS for more information.
The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and IBM are jointly offering a summer opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students with disabilities pursuing technical fields, including computer science, engineering, mathematics and physical sciences. The U.S. Department of Agriculture is offering two scholarship programs. The PPQ William F. Helms Student Scholarship program is geared toward students interested in plant agriculture and related sciences. The Saul T. Wilson, Jr., Scholarship is generally awarded to students in veterinary and biomedical sciences. The deadline for both of these opportunities is April 30, 1997. Scholarships for blind and visually impaired students are available from the American Council of the Blind, the National Federation of the Blind and the Michigan Commission for the Blind.
