Crews are busy at Mason-Abbott, making the residence hall handicapper accessible to the first floor and all public areas. Soon people with mobility impairments will be able to access not only the Mason-Abbott manager's office, but also the public restrooms, said Sue Petrisin, assistant manager for Mason-Abbott. "The hall will not be made fully accessible," said Petrisin. "It only will be accessible to the first floor."
The renovations to Mason-Abbott are part of a larger University plan to increase accessibility to campus buildings. Other renovations in the past few years have included the new accessible ramp and public restrooms at the International Center, a building connector to serve the Engineering Building and Anthony Hall and alterations to Conrad Hall.
