The time for giving thanks is once again upon us. Well, at least the commercially-designated day, anyway. Thanksgiving is Thursday, Nov. 27, a time to give pause for that which we truly appreciate in life. It could be something small -- like getting past midterms -- or something of great significance -- like having the very chance to give thanks, as Isha Smith does. Her story (see page 2) is a lesson to us all in taking life, each day, for all it presents us with, for good or bad.
There is, of course, a lighter side to the holiday. Seeing friends or relatives. Taking in the Detroit Lions or the Dallas Cowboys in a Turkey Day football fest. Even just enjoying good food and a day off from school or work.
Now might be a good time to plan for finals week, too. Contact the Writing Center if you need help with those final papers. Get your test and study materials in early to OPHS if you need books or notes prepared.
There's no doubt about it -- fall is fast upon us, and winter doesn't seem that far behind, especially given last month's surprise snow storm. Enjoy your holiday, and gear up for the remainder of the semester. Happy Thanksgiving!
