Samona Combs
I've heard it said that life is not a destination, it's a journey; and I have spent the duration of my existence proving this statement to be true.
I aim to document the journey of both the people I encounter and my own through written and spoken word. My fascination with human communication has led me to Michigan State University as journalism major, where I've decided to specialize in Public Relations.
I learned about this position through Jennifer Marshall while I was the Director of Public Relations and Outreach for ASMSU. She asked me if I needed any extra experience and told me to apply.
Although I started this position with RCPD over two weeks ago, I have had to "hit the ground running." I actually started working the day after I was interviewed!
While working with the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities, I hope to promote more than the activities and the overall message of RCPD. I also hope to promote the life that those with disabilities lead. It doesn't matter if you are living with mental, learning, or physical disabilities, or if you're just living. You do extraordinary things daily, and I hope my work can capture and document that.
My goal is to work with specialists and students to promote the center that will allow the MSU community to gain further acceptance of and knowledge about the disabled community.
I am available to tape ceremonies or events the center sponsors at request, and I'm always looking for story ideas and new ways to promote RCPD. Please feel free to contact me via email at combssam@msu.edu or call me at (517)353-9642 ext. 230.
I look forward to working with you!
