ROTC cadets from Michigan State University (MSU) and the University of Michigan (UM) came together on October 25, 2024, for the 11th annual Alex’s Great State Race.
Tyler Smeltekop is the Assistant Director of Assistive Technology Innovation at the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities (RCPD) office. He joined the team in September of 2022 with goals of expanding the MSU community’s access to accessible technology, course content, and equitable experiences across campus.
MSU Senior, Arianna Fobbs, a plant biology major, began writing a book in high school with the goal of helping others, like herself, that identify with a learning disability.
Shelby Gombosi has been promoted to Associate Director of the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities (RCPD). Shelby has been with MSU since 2008.
As the weather starts to change and the fall colors begin to pop, the hustle and bustle remains steady around campus with students and staff settling into their respective routines. This fall the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities (RCPD) office has been busy helping many students and staff get set up with accommodations among many other events and program planning.
This past Spring, the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities (RCPD) partnered with MSU College of Natural Science and STEM+ Education at State for three workshops that centered around building disability awareness and advancing STEM education.
This April, the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities (RCPD) and its partner programs, Tower Guard, BOND, and the Council of Students with Disabilities (CSD) hosted a screening and discussion event for the film, Deej.
The annual Adaptive Sports Day, organized by the Council of Students with Disabilities (CSD), happens each April to raise awareness on adaptive sports and share alternative ways of exercising.

The RCPD is thrilled to announce that our very own Annika Arney, Assistive Technology Manager, was awarded the Student Employee of the Year this spring.
The 52nd Anniversary Awards and Appreciation Reception, hosted by the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities (RCPD), was held on April 12, 2024 at the MSU Kellogg Center.
Each year the RCPD hosts an annual awards and appreciation reception at the end of the spring semester to honor the outstanding achievements of scholarship recipients, exceptional faculty and staff, and generous donors who support the RCPD mission.
Kareem Algarash, a Senior and a Mechanical Engineering major, is the recipient of the RCPD 2024 Student Leadership and Service Award for his contributions that bring awareness, inclusion, and accessibility to the greater MSU community.
