Emily Young
Searching for a summer job, dreading the thought of having to work five days-a-week as a server at a high stress restaurant, I was thrilled to have stumbled upon the notice for a new PR Coordinator for MSU RCPD.
As a Journalism and Public Relations major, I couldn't have asked for a better position. Not only am I gaining incredible work experience, it can also lead me to a variety of opportunities.
I knew this was the right job for me as soon as I read about it, so I went into my interview with enthusiasm and confidence. It is my goal to improve the promotions within the RCPD and the quality of the Harbinger in any way I can.
After I received the job I began to get a little nervous, not only was I following a long line of first-rate PR Coordinators, I was also the youngest out of all of them. I now have a wonderful opportunity to gain tremendous amounts of writing experience for a great cause. Not to mention the convenience of walking down a flight of steps after class to get to work in the morning.
As I continue working here, I have a growing admiration for the students, employees, and staff. I respect and admire the remarkable impact they have on both the university and the surrounding area. Now, in-turn, it is my goal for the university and the surrounding area to see all that the RCPD does. One of my main objectives is letting both students as well as employees know that they have many opportunities available to them, and that RCPD can assist in opening the door.
I have many goals which I would like to see executed while I am working here. First and foremost, I would like to get the RCPD name out on campus, whether it is participating in more university functions or just working on more consistent branding, I would like more of the campus, as well of the rest of the area to know what RCPD stands for. I also plan to work alongside staff and specialists to better assist them in whatever ways I can to help with their future promotional ideas.
I am looking forward to a successful journey working here at the RCPD.
