With the program’s help I was able to graduate earlier than I expected...before I sought help from the RCPD, I did not believe that I would be capable of graduating.

See you at the WOW! Welcome Orientation Workshop!

August 31, 2009

At Michigan State University, the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities (RCPD) wants to give every student an opportunity to excel. The "WOW!" Welcome Orientation Workshop will provide important knowledge for resources available on campus. The event will take place in Bessey Hall, home of the RCPD, on Monday, August 31, from 4-6:15pm. Bessey will be filled with students, faculty members, volunteers, and RCPD specialists ready to answer questions and impart information to help students succeed for the coming school year.

As WOW begins, students are encouraged to become acquainted with the RCPD on a personal level. Staff will be introduced, and students will be provided with an introduction to self-advocacy in the MSU community, including use of the VISA, transportation, assistive technology and alternative testing. MSU professors will provide key insights on maximizing student-faculty interactions, and a student panel of RCPD Spartans will lead a conversation and question-answer session about their experiences at MSU. The workshop ends with PIZZA and a chance to chat with your Specialist and current RCPD students, as well as get your *VISAs for fall.

The Welcome Orientation Workshop is sure to be a "WOW!" experience; RSVP online by going to www.rcpd.msu.edu - look for the green button!
