Sign Language Interpreting and Real-Time Captioning

Michigan State University has a longstanding tradition of meeting the unique communication needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals. To fulfill this commitment, RCPD employs both sign language interpreters and real-time captioners. RCPD sign language interpreters are state or nationally certified.

RCPD provides credit-based classroom interpreting and captioning at no cost to students. Interpreting and captioning services for extra-curricular, departmental and special events are available by request with a cost-recovery fee structure. Requests for interpreting or captioning are coordinated by the Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist.

In addition, RCPD may be able to facilitate observation opportunities for Interpreter Training Program students.
