Assistive Technology on MSU Microlab Computers
Each of the ACNS maintained campus microlab computers have Kurzweil 3000 LD reading software, ZoomText screen magnifier and JAWS screen reader available. These programs can be launched through the start menu / utilities.
How to Access Kurzweil 3000
Access Kurzweil 3000 on any MSU microlab computer by going to the "Start" menu, "All Programs," "Utilities," "Kurzweil Educational Systems," and finally click on "Kurzweil 3000."
Once you open the Kurzweil 3000 software, you will have 3 options: - LearnStation - reading only (default)
- B/W Professional - read black and white text, scan text documents and save audio files
- Color Professional - scan and read documents in color, scan text documents and save audio files
To log in, type your MSU NetID as your user name, or type "read" to log in as a guest. Contact your RCPD Specialist to have your MSU NetID entered into the user list for this application. Being entered into the user list will enable you to save your settings when you log in. (the "read" guest account may not always be available)
How to Access ZoomText
Find ZoomText on any MSU microlab computer by going to the "Start" menu, "All Programs," "Utilities," "Zoomtext," and finally click on "ZoomText" on the last menu column.
How to Access JAWS
Access JAWS on an MSU microlab computer by going to the "Start" menu, "All Programs," "Utilities," "JAWS," and finally click on "JAWS" in the final column.
In order to have JAWS open automatically when you log on to any MSU microlab computer, complete the following steps:
Open Notepad
Change file name from "*.txt" to "JAWS.txt"
Save file in your AFS space (the P-drive on an MSU microlab computer)
Logout
Next time you log in JAWS will automatically open
