I encourage everyone, disabled or not, to study abroad. You'll never forget it. -Molly, Study Abroad Participant |
The Welcome Orientation Workshop (WOW) is designed for incoming students with disabilities, hosted by the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities. The purpose of this event is to assist these students and provide them with resources to learn the ropes of Spartan life on campus, overcome barriers they face, and deal with all the issues connected to a disability.
The workshop is geared to get the students off to the right start and maximize their ability to be successful. The program generally includes an introduction to the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities (RCPD) staff, information on how to access accommodations, advocate for oneself, and becoming a successful MSU student. The information is offered through breakout sessions regarding a variety of relevant topics as well as a panel of seasoned students to offer tips based on their personal experiences.
Exhibitors are also on-hand to inform the students of the many resources available to them, both on and off campus. The workshop wraps up with a light dinner and closing.
