The Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities is a consumer-oriented service unit. We rely on the skills of talented and dedicated staff to meet the varied needs of students, employees and visitors with disabilities. The following three main areas describe general employment classifications within the office.
The Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities routinely seeks students with work-study financial aid eligibility. We hire work-study students who are highly dependable, talented, energetic, motivated, and have an interest in working in a caring customer-service oriented environment. Our student employee positions generally involve an average of 10 to 15 hours per week and afford a level of flexibility to meet class-scheduling requirements. Most of our student employees report thoroughly enjoying their time at the RCPD and remain with us for their 4 years at MSU. If you or someone you know possess both a Work-Study Financial Aid allocation and a strong work and customer service ethic, please contact Jeanne Hunt.
The RCPD regularly seeks contract employees in the areas of American Sign Language Interpreting and Real-Time Captioning both of which provide direct classroom services to deaf students. If you or someone you know possess Michigan (QA-3), National certification as an ASL interpreter, or a degree in Computer-Aided Real-Time Reporting please contact Jeanne Hunt for details on how you may become involved with our mission.
Though not a regular occurrence, professional employment positions occasionally become available at the RCPD. Possibilities include: American Sign Language Interpreters, Real-Time Captioners for deaf students, Disability Specialists, and other opportunities. When such positions are available they are posted through the MSU Human Resources position vacancy notices.
